This year’s captain is Nicholas Chabert, ’16. Nick enjoys sailing and participating in Model United Nations. He hopes to be an aerospace engineer and his favorite class is honors biology.
The Mechanical department is in charge of designing, manufacturing, and assembling the robot. Mechanical designs the robot in Autodesk’s Inventor CAD program. With a 3D printer, a CNC Mill, sheet metal tools, and many other machine tools, the mechanical department has the capability to manufacture many types of parts.
This year’s department head is Amy Caldwell. Amy is the founder of Jesuit’s Ballroom Dancing Club and enjoys astronomy. Her favorite class is math, and she would like to become a civil engineer.
The Electrical department is in charge of assembling the electronics board and wiring the robot. The electrical department also works with the pneumatics on the robot. This year’s Electrical department head is Quinn McDonnell. Quinn likes computer programming and filmmaking and hopes to become a mechanical engineer.
Software is in charge of programming the robot. They also set up all the development tools and driver station software. The software department uses many tools in its operation, like Java for programming the robot, and a combination of Dropbox and Subversion for source control. The Software department head is Chaitanya Karamchedu ’17. In addition to robotics, Chai is a leader of the Jesuit Model United Nations club.
The Business department handles the team budget and working with sponsors on getting grants.
This year’s Business department is led by Megan Lim, ’16. Megan likes to play piano and ice skate for fun, and is also an avid reader. Her favorite class is AP Chemistry and she aspires to be a Biomedical engineer.
The Marketing department maintains the team website, the Crusaderbots Facebook page, as well as advertising the team to the school and the community. The marketing department also works in outreach for the team.
This year’s Marketing department is led by Isaac Houchen-Haun ’16.
The Outreach department promotes FIRST and STEM in the community through programs and events. This year’s Outreach department is led by Kruthi Annigeri.
